Provision International Ministries
Provision International Ministries website is currently under construction. We plan to be fully functional by 12/28/04. Until that time please forgive us for the clutter. We appreciate your visit, and have general information below regarding Provision until our site is completed.
Provision International Ministries began 5 years ago in a house just outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The founder, Sue Racine, worked out of a small beauty shop attached to her home. She started the organization after an experience at a women's prayer meeting that she regularly attended. One lady, about Sue's size, asked if she had a dress that she no longer needed. The lady wanted to go to church but did not have anything to wear. Sue thought that if giving a dress to her would be what she needed to attend church, then she would give it, no questions asked. Then Sue began to think, "How many others have this same need?" She wondered if children had clothing for school, or does an expectant mother have clothes to wear during her pregnancy? Did the tiny newborns have clothes to wear when they returned from the hospital? Because of these questions Sue decided to fill her house with donated clothes to distribute to those in need, and Provision International Ministries was birthed.
During the past 5 years Sue has seen many lives changed by a simple gift of clothing. Tears have been shed, thanks have been given, and smiles have been returned to the faces of those who are less fortunate. Provision International charges nothing for the clothes which are distributed, and will even deliver them at no cost to the person in need. Without charging as other clothing ministries are accustomed to, Sue has had faith that God will provide a way for her to continue on in her calling.
Currently she finances her ministry solely on money she has earned through her beauty shop, Social Security, donations from individuals, and her church. Her house is filled to capacity with clothing and she makes deliveries on a daily basis. Some of the organizations Provision International has serviced are:
Pathfinders Women and Children Resources
Jellema House
MOMs Program - Spectrum Health
Kingdom Life Ministries
Abundant Life Ministries
Agape International Foundation - Clothing for Students and Refugees
Clothing for Honduras
Christian Center - Kerry, Mississippi
House of Prayer
Freedom House
Liz's House - Dwelling Place
Central Bible Church - Clothes for Africa
Needy Individuals from Grand Rapids and surrounding areas (fire victims, homeless, etc.)
This is where people like you come in, Provision International is in need of finances to sustain this impacting ministry. There are many repairs in the house that need to be made and because of the abundance of clothes, Sue only has a bedroom left for her private living area. From the dinning room to the living room to even part of the kitchen, clothes have become her top priority and any free space is used up. It is Provisions dream to have a warehouse in which to sort, wash, store, and distribute all of the clothes and equipment that is donated.
